Who's in your photos?
A question for moms: what do you see when you look at recent photos of your family? Most likely, there are fun shots of your kids on adventures, riding on Dad’s shoulders, and snuggling with their grandparents. But how many of them are you in?
If - like many moms - you are the designated family photographer then it’s time to come out from behind the lens. Many moms snap tons of happy pictures of their kids, but all too often find reasons to stay out of the frame. Do any of these sound familiar?
I’m not wearing makeup
My hair is a mess
I don’t want to disrupt the kids
I wouldn’t be caught dead in these sweats on camera
You're worth remembering too.
Guess what? Years from now when these photos are all you have left from this time in your family’s lives, you won’t remember that you desperately needed a haircut. Instead, you will remember only the joy, laughter, and love you felt in these moments with your kids.
Starting this Mother’s Day, I challenge you to capture more moments with you and your children in view. Pass the camera phone to your significant other, set the self-timer, or schedule a professional photo session. That way when your children are grown and they share these stories with future generations, they’ll remember that Mom was right there with them.
To celebrate this Mother’s Day, I’m sharing my favorite photos of a recent photo shoot with my Mom. She came to visit me and we had blast together.
